Maui and the Big Fish ABC

Along the water lived three brothers

Brothers of Maui

Caught a lot of fish they did indeed

Day after day they came home with lots of fish

Every time they were about go fishing Maui would ask if he could come.

Fighting and arguing the three brothers would always make up an excuse

Gee those brothers are so mean Maui thought

He decided to make up a plan.

In the morning he woke up early and hid in the waka

Just after they had gone out to sea and dropped their anchor…

Kia ora my brothers” said Maui as he jumped out and showed himself

Let me show you how the pro fishes.

MAUI! “How did you get here?”

Never you mind.

Out Maui pulled his fishing line from his bag.

Please give me some bait!

Quickly the brothers shouted “NO!”

Rubbing and punching his own nose it started to bleed.

So he put the blood on his hook

Tossing his line out they started sinking to the bottom.

Usually they would catch lots and lots of fish but today Maui had a very big tug.

Very suddenly the boat started to rock.

Wait Maui cut your line!

Xcellent catch Maui said to him self but his brothers were doubtful.

Yahoo! Maui has just fished up the north island.

Zapping and slashing the brothers were at the fish.

As soon as Maui could he ran straight to his village and told his family.

Before Maui could stop his brothers they had made gullies and mountains.

Curiously this is how the story ended.

Narrative: Cave Man

Given this picture, SM wrote:

The wisps of smoke surrounded him as he climbed the 900 year old rocks more dead than alive. The rusty old stalactites hung above him ready to pierce the life out of him. The water rushed 100 feet below. He was advancing higher and higher. His rusty brown beard was wet with sweat and exhaustion. His big eyes were strong and determined as he climbed higher and higher. He felt uncomfortable. His clothes were stripped and in rags. He was about half way without any troubles at all…

Cameo: The Eagle Ray

Excitement encompassed me, just looking at the Eagle ray was exciting, and I had never seen them this shallow before. It was flapping its wings on the smooth rock. Its tail was hitting the slimy grey rock. The water smelt like rock salt when making butter chicken. The Eagle Ray was like an elephant with wings and an extra long tail.  What an awesome education!  SN

My Currumbbin Experience

Screech went the brake!  We were finally here. I could smell the stinky smell of the Koala and felt like I was going to run but we were already entering the highlight of my holiday.  Although it stunk I was still OK.

As soon as I saw the Koalas and how good they looked on camera I was certain that I wanted to have my photo taken with a koala.  I got in the line to have my photo taken, I froze and thought “how heavy was it going to be?”

Coming out of my day dream it was my turn.  I held a Koala called Becky. She felt soft and warm as when I cuddle up on the couch with mum and she wasn’t that heavy.  Her claws left tiny holes in my T-shirt!

I have a wonderful picture to remind me of to remind me of this special moment.
